As a patient at our clinic, it is necessary for us to register and use certain information about you.
We are obligated to do this in accordance with the Danish Authorisation Act (autorisationsloven), the Act on Medical Record-Keeping (journalføringsbekendtgørelsen) and the Health Act (sundhedsloven).
We are obligated to store the information we register and process about you as well as uphold our patient confidentiality. Disclosure of information about your health conditions can, if necessary, be exchanged internally at the clinic. However, disclosure to persons and others outside the clinic can, as a rule, only take place with your consent in accordance with Section 9 of the Danish Health Act.
Some information about you is registered and used for settlement purposes if deemed necessary to complete a payment for the clinic’s treatment of you, for example via your region, municipality or insurance company.
The clinic is obligated to store your record until 10 years after your last contact with the clinic. If you decide to change to another dentist, we will transfer your record to your new dentist. Afterwards, your new dentist will undertake the obligation to store your record. In rare cases, as described in the Act on Medical Record-Keeping, we can store your record for a longer period of time than stated above.
Information about you, which the clinic stores for settlement purposes, is stored as long as it is required and is necessary in connection with the clinic’s settlement and bookkeeping. Information about you for settlement purposes is registered on the basis of paragraph 6, item 1, schedule b and f (until 25th May, 2018, information is registered on the basis of the Danish Act on Processing of Personal Data section 6, item 1, no. 2 and no. 7).
At any time, you have the right to gain access to the information, which the clinic registers and stores about you. If you believe that we have registered incorrect information about you, you have the right to have the information rectified. We may not delete the information in your record. If you believe that our records contain errors, you have the right to ask us to add your remarks.
If you want to lodge a complaint about the clinic’s processing of your personal data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet). Find more information on www.datatilsynet.dk.
